Nearly 3 months have past since the announcement of the Wii U and yet we are still kept in the dark about the release date. To be honest, this was not at all unexpected. Chances are we still have another 6 months-1 year before the release date is announced.
Nintendo needs some big news soon or they could go the way of Sega. After a less than warm welcome to the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo’s hold on the gaming market is continuing to slip. The Wii console has always been a favorite among family gamers, while more serious gamers have turned to the XBOX 360 and PS3. The announcement of the Nintendo 3DS signaled a change in Nintendo’s strategy making a device that focused on more than just games at its core. The announcement of the Wii U continued that trend, marking a significant change in how Nintendo is choosing to approach the gaming world. The question is will it be enough.
Will Nintendo’s focus on a graphically powerful console be enough to save it from going the route that SEGA took, or will it continue its downward trend. While not much is certain about the Nintendo Wii U or it’s release date, one can be certain the innovation and mystery surrounding the Wii U will no doubt be shrouded in mystery for quite sometime.
